DraftKings has been one of the first movers on the sports betting front, partnering with casinos, opening the first online sports betting app in New Jersey, and partnering with Bdubs for exclusive DFS contests. DraftKings is licensed through the Resorts Atlantic Casino in New Jersey, and the technology is currently powered by Kambi.
DraftKings sportsbook Is currently available via desktop and mobile app, which can integrate with a player’s daily fantasy sports account.
DraftKings was founded in 2012 as a Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) company. Over the last seven years, they've been competing with FanDuel, and together the two behemoths account for over 90% of the DFS market share. Our review of DraftKings as a daily fantasy sports company can be found here.
DraftKings currently offers bettors 15 sports, which is impressive for a US regulated sportsbook. DraftKings offers a variety of international and domestic leagues, especially for soccer.
|Total Sports Offered||15|
|Aussie Rules (AFL)||Yes|
DraftKings offers a great variety of betting options, including parlays, round robins, spread, moneyline, total, futures, props, and teaser bets. In addition to moneyline, spread, and total bets, DraftKings offers between 20-60 additional bets for most NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, and soccer games, including a variety of player and team props.
DraftKings is the only sportsbook to offer pools contests. Similar to daily fantasy sports, pools contests charge entry fees and have preset prize pools. An example of a pools contest would be an NBA pick vs. spread, where bettors pay an entry fee of $5, pick the winners of nine NBA games with the spread, with 70% of the prize pool split between those with the highest number of correct games picked, and 30% going to the entrants with the second highest number of correct games picked.
These contests are exciting and unique to DraftKings, a true point of differentiation between all other sportsbooks.
Cash Out Feature
Cash Out is a new feature that gives you the opportunity to close out your active bets before the outcome of each game is decided. The feature allows you to secure part of your winnings or cut your losses as the odds change in or against your favor.
Cash Out is available for pre-game, live, future and parlay bets. The feature can be for more or less than your original wagered amount, depending on how events unfold following your bet placement. You can see if your bet is eligible for cash out when you add it to the bet slip. This description was taken from the DraftKings website. DraftKings is one of many US regulated sportsbooks to offer this awesome feature.
Daily Odds Boost
DraftKings offers bettors daily odds boosts on a few select bets each day. The odds boosts act like a sale at a retail store, providing more incentive to make each bet by offering more money if you win the bet. Not all US regulated sportsbooks offer odds boosts.
Sports Betting National Championship
During January 11-13th of 2019, DraftKings hosted their first sports betting national championship, with over $2.5M in guaranteed prizes, and over $1M to the winner. Entries into the contest cost $10,000 or winning a daily fantasy sports qualifier. Bettors received a $5,000 bankroll for the weekend, with the goal of having the biggest bankroll at the end of the weekend. The 25 bettors with the highest bankrolls at the end of the weekend took home prizes ranging from $15,000 to $1,000,000.
This type of contest is unique to DraftKings and is the first of its kind. Professional gamblers will enjoy betting at DraftKings for contests like this.
Each sport and bet type has different limits that are not disclosed.
A sore spot for DraftKings, the sportsbook finished in the last place for out 2019 odds rankings. Since DraftKings didn’t make their lines viewable to non-residents of New Jersey until December, they were not included for NCAAF or MLB rankings. Regardless, DraftKings still offers poor odds for almost all sports.
DraftKings top odds: soccer moneyline bets (7th)
DraftKings worst odds: NFL moneyline bets (17th), NFL spread bets (16th), NHL moneyline bets (17th), NHL spread and total bets (15th), NBA moneyline bets (16th), NBA spread bets (14th), NCAAB moneyline bets (15th), NCAAB total bets (14th).
Ranking Process- For this review, odds testing data spanning the NFL, NCAAF, NBA, NCAAB, MLB, NHL, and top soccer leagues was collected. Odds data measures over 1,400 games across nine offshore sportsbooks and eight US regulated sportsbooks. Moneyline, spread, and total bets were analyzed and weighted to comprise a 2019 ranking for each league, with moneyline bets typically receiving over 50% of the weighting.
There are 16-17 sportsbooks ranked for each league, except the MLB, where only 13 sportsbooks were ranked. This is due to some US regulated sportsbooks rolling out after the MLB season concluded.

DraftKings live betting menu is average, offering a few bets for each game as well as a live game clock. DraftKings doesn’t offer a live match tracker like other sportsbooks such as FanDuel or SugarHouse. The variety of live bets is just alright and has much room to grow.
DraftKings's mobile app is one of the most complete online sports betting apps I have seen. The app has all of its educational pages, information, and bets and offerings available on iPhone and Android devices.
The only complaint I have with the app is the navigability to some of the educational pages and offerings, which feel hidden. At times, the app will make the user re-login with their fingerprint or crash if the user is on a page for an extended period of time. Aside from these minor hiccups, the app is user-friendly.
DraftKings currently offers both a desktop and mobile version of their online sportsbook.
DraftKings offers live chat and email support for general support inquiries. The quality of support is decent and provides quick and knowledgeable responses. DraftKings does not currently have dedicated phone lines for sportsbook phone support. Instead, they have a callback form, where an employee will call you after you fill out some information.
Education and Research
DraftKings provides the best education and research of any sportsbook I have seen. I wish I could give them more than five stars in this category.
DraftKings offers an excellent education section, providing both videos with Charles Barkley and articles describing what specific bet types are and how to place them.
The sportsbook also offers guides offering tips to bet on each sport, describing popular betting types for the sport, as well as common strategies for betting.
On top of this, DraftKings provides a sports betting glossary, a map of which states have legalized sports betting, and DraftKings Live, an application which DraftKings provides live stats and scores, as well as news and leaderboards for top fantasy players. DK Live is awesome when you have active lineups and want to see how they’re performing against the field.
DraftKings offers the best statistics and research of any sportsbook reviewed on this site, and it isn’t even close.
Everything from against the spread records, average winning margin at the stadium, total line movement, how often each team loses after leading at halftime, and so much more information is readily available is in an immersive display. If value data and quirky statistics, look no further than DraftKings. No other sportsbooks come close to offering the same quality or quantity of statistics, which is powered by iSport Genius.
Below are a few screenshots of what users can expect when previewing matchups.
DraftKings has been around as a Daily Fantasy Sports company since 2012, only adding sports betting to its repertoire in 2018. DraftKings has faced scrutiny for misleading marketing in its DFS business but has not had any issues thus far in sports betting. DraftKings has made it clear they will be focused on sports betting for the long-term future of the company. According to Crunchbase, DraftKings has received $644.8 million in funding to date, meaning they plan on being in the sports betting industry for the long haul.
DraftKings offered the following two promotions in January when this review was written.

DraftKings boasts the best education and research for first-time bettors, as well as an impressive spread of sports and bets offered. Aside from poor odds, DraftKings has a stellar sportsbook that will be an industry leader for the foreseeable future.
