Delaware Sports Betting

In May of 2018, the Supreme Court overruled a law that placed a federal ban on sports betting. This decision has given each state the power to legalize sports betting, both online and in-person. Delaware quickly responded to this opportunity, launching full-scale sports betting on June 5th, 2018.

Residents of Delaware can legally bet on sports at all three casinos in the state;

  • Delaware Park - Wilmington, DE
  • Dover Downs Hotel & Casino - Dover, DE
  • Harrington Raceway & Casino - Harrington, DE

Delaware Online Sports Betting

Aside from the Delaware Sports Lottery, online sports betting is currently not offered in Delaware. There are not currently any plans to offer mobile betting through mobile apps.


Delaware Sports Lottery

Delaware residents have the option of playing the Sports Pick Lottery, a lottery option that accepts bets on NFL and NCAA football games. Bets include point spreads, quick picks, totals, teasers, parlays, and more. The full list of lottery wagers and governing rules can be found on the Delaware Lottery site.

If you win $600 or less on the Sports Pick Lottery you can redeem your prize at any Delaware Sports Lottery Retailer or sportsbook. Tickets over $600 can only be cashed at Delaware Park, Dover Downs, Harrington Raceway, or the Delaware Lottery office.

In addition to the Delaware Sports Lottery, Delaware offers an online lottery system that features dozens of instant games and drawing games. Drawing games include PowerBall, Mega Millions, Lucky for Life, Play 3, and Play 4, amongst others.

Where does the Delaware lottery money go?

Each lottery dollar is distributed as follows, and can also be seen here: 30% to the General Fund, 10% to lottery retailers, 50% or more to players as prizes, and less than 5% to administrative expenses.

Delaware Online Poker

Online poker is legal in Delaware, in addition to betting on sports and horse racing. Delaware has a tri-state compact with Nevada and New Jersey to allow residents to play poker with each other online. Pennsylvania will likely join this compact in 2019. For those unfamiliar, Daily Fantasy Sports, or DFS, is a cross between fantasy football and legalized gambling. On a broad level, DFS contests are a subsection of fantasy sports. Players compete against their friends, or more often complete strangers to build a team of professional athletes under a given salary cap, and try and to outscore their opponents. Daily fantasy sports differ from traditional fantasy sports by having contests that last for an evening or the weekend, as opposed to having the same team for months.

Are offshore sportsbooks legal in Delaware?
